Lifeguard

The primary responsibility of a Drexel Swim Club (DSC) lifeguard is to insure the safety of all (members, guests, & other staff) in and around the DSC pool property. In addition to the duties associated with safety, our lifeguards are responsible for the routine maintenance & clean-up of the pool(s), the grounds, and the DSC complex at large. Our lifeguards will be attentive, demonstrate respect, plus maintain a positive & courteous attitude toward all.​

Becoming a Lifeguard

There are two important elements prior to becoming a lifeguard. The American Red Cross requires that you must be at least 15 years old and pass course specific swimming requirements prior to starting training.

 

Duties and responsibilities of a Lifeguard

  • Supervising swimmers.

  • Spotting hazards and preventing accidents.

  • Giving advice on water safety.

  • Controlling unruly behavior.

  • Water rescue.

  • First aid including CPR.

DSC Lifeguard Requirements:

  • ​Must be 15 years of age or older

  • Must be certified in Lifeguard/First Aid & CPR/AED (proof of certifications is needed)

  • Must be a strong swimmer able to maneuver and navigate in the water

DSC Lifeguard Responsibilities:

  • Oversee poolside safety measures, both in and around the pool(s).

  • Enforce and discipline all patrons who violate pool safety rules.

  • Be attentive & provide exceptional customer service to all pool patrons daily.

  • Conduct daily cleaning & organization to maintain a safe and clean pool and deck.

  • Help swimmers pass and obtain Water Safety Certifications

  • Perform pool water chemistry balance tests throughout the day.

  • Organize pool activities.

  • Attend monthly staff meetings and in-service trainings.

  • Performs related task as manager(s) see fit.

Front Desk Attendant

Requirements

  • Must be 14 years of age or older

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Attentive, Friendly and Courteous

 

Responsibilities

  • Welcome, greet, and check in all incoming members and guests

  • Provide any necessary DSC information (club activities, swim team, swim lessons) as requested

  • Handle all incoming phone calls and answer them in a polite and pleasant tone

  • Maintain and update records (if required) of members and guests on a daily basis 

  • Manage guest fees (cash & checks) and any other DSC front desk profit center monies

  • Keep the DSC office area neat and organized.

  • Perform other DSC related task(s) per management

Snack Bar Attendant

Requirements

  • Must be 14 years of age or older

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Attentive, Friendly and Courteous.
